Gertrude Ethel Meinsen
February 5, 1922 - October 25, 2018

Gertrude Ethel Meinsen, age 96, of West Burlington, died at home Thursday, October 25, 2018.
She was the daughter of Arnold and Gertrude Johnson. She was a homemaker, seamstress and wonderful, much loved mother.
She loved the time spent with her family, sewing, card games, picnics, traveling and dancing with her husband Bob, who preceded her in death in 1985.
She loved to go for a car ride past the neighborhood where she grew up on Sweeny Street and out through the park and down by the river.
Gertrude is survived by her two sons; James (Susan) Walsh and Philip Walsh; daughter Mary Ann (Pat) Ricks; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert Meinsen, two sons, Michael (Grace) Walsh and Robert Walsh; two sisters, Patsy Delabre and Margaret Bergquist and one brother Karl Johnson.
The Rev. Paul Walker will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Helen Rossi House at the University of Iowa.

"Phil, Mary Anne, Jimmy, Susan . Thankyou all . It was my Pleasure to see Aunt Gert for the last Time. I Loved her Much. Moms last sister. God Bless you All. I wish I could have stayed more then 4 days. And If I didn't need a job, basically get a job or loose my House. No need to Explain. All of you said Don't worry Jeff About attending the Funeral. "I'm so sorry for all the members and loss of Aunt Gert. I sure wish I could have been there. It makes me sad I couldn't make it to my own mom's sister's funeral. I have so so many fond memories as a little girl at Aunt Gert and Uncle Bob's.
