In loving memory of

Joseph Milden
December 29, 1934 - October 27, 2018

Joseph F. Milden, 84, of Toms River, formerly of Linden and Bayonne, died Oct. 27, 2018 after a long illness. Joseph was born on Dec. 29, 1933 in Bayonne Hospital to Theresa (Billics) and Michael Milden.

A 1951 graduate of Bayonne High School, Joseph went to work for Western Electric in Kearny and later Newark. During his long career there, he was particularly proud to be a member of the team who produced the materials for the Transatlantic fiber optic cable. In 1960, he and his wife Peggy moved their young family to Linden. He retired in 1996 from AT&T, and moved to Toms River. Joe was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Linden, and served on the Holiday City Ambulance Corps. During his leisure time, he enjoyed surf and deep sea fishing, an occasional round of golf, and spending time on the beach of the Jersey shore. Joe was a devoted and thoughtful family man whose greatest pleasure was spending time with his children and grandchildren. He survived by his wife of 64 Years, Margaret; his daughter and son-in-law Jody and Bob Shannon of Wyckoff; his son and daughter-in-law Mark and Jan Milden of Michigan; his grandchildren Anne (Griffin) Mesmer and Timothy (Maggie) Shannon, all of Massachusetts; and his sister Frances of Florida. He also leaves behind many caring friends.

Visiting will be on Tuesday, Oct. 30 from 2 to 5 pm at Horizon Funeral and Cremation Services, 1329 Route 37 West, Toms River.
