Norbert "Pete" Beck
November 7, 1935 - October 20, 2018

Norbert "Pete" Beck, of Cottage Grove, Minnesota died Saturday, October 20, 2018. He was 82 years old. He was born on November 7, 1935, in Mattoon, a son of John and Barbara (Fischer) Beck. He married Audrey Gulrud on August 22, 1959, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Mattoon.

He was a graduate of Mattoon High School with the class of 1954.

While in high school he enlisted in the United States National Guard. He served with the 32nd Division, Wisconsin National Guard which was called to active duty during the Cuban Missile Crisis and stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington.

Mr. Beck was employed at the Square D company in Milwaukee until 1973 when he began employment with North Central Airlines. He moved to Cottage Grove Minnesota in 1987 and retired from Northwest Airlines in 1999.

He was a member of St. Rita Catholic Church in Cottage Grove and served as the neighborhood greeter at the top of his driveway.

His heart remained fully rooted in Wisconsin. He enjoyed time at "Green Acres" his seasonal home in Mattoon with family and friends abundant.

Lastly to those who knew him, if anything anywhere was on sale, he was the man with the information! He will be missed dearly.

Survivors including his wife are two daughters, Marcy (Kriss) Novak, Lisa (Daniel) Becher; three sons, Allen (Susan), Joel, Gregory (Michelle); seven grandchildren Cory, Kyle, Tamara, Aaron, Tiffany, Hannah and Morgan; two great-grandchildren Chrysalynn and Logan; two sisters, Jeannie Pecha, Antigo, Lynn (Arvid) Evensvold, Phoenix, Arizona; a brother, Philip (Marjorie) Beck, Antigo; two sisters-in-law, Caroline Beck, Antigo, and Gretta Lind; many beloved nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Edna (Joseph) Zwirschitz, Bernice (Ray) Kirsch; three brothers, Harold, Sylvester (Bernadine), Clem (Shirley) Beck; step father, Rudy Mondl.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, November 3, 2018, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Holy Family Catholic Church, Phlox with Rev. Edmundo Siguenza officiating. Burial will take place in Holy Family Cemetery, Mattoon.

Visitation will be Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church.

Bradley Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
