William Arthur (Bill) Herzog, husband, father and fisherman extraordinaire died early Sunday morning, November 4. He was born in Berwyn, IL on September 30, 1941, and was raised in the Chicago/Milwaukee area. Bill was a devoted Chicago Cub fan whose lifelong dream was realized when the Cubbies won the World Series in 2016, proving that miracles do happen. A graduate of Lawrence University in 1963, Bill worked in Milwaukee until 1969 when his company transferred him to the remote town in the Pacific Northwest called Seattle. He was reluctant at first but soon realized that beautiful Washington State is a hunter's and fisherman's paradise. A few years after his arrival in Seattle, Bill met and married Wendy Harrington. Little did she know that she was in for the ride of a lifetime. During their 45 years together they raised their daughter Margaret and lots of hounds of all types. After 25 years in the corporate world, Bill decided to devote the rest of his working career to his passion for fishing. In 1988 he established Zog's Baithouse and distributed fishing tackle and bait throughout Washington state. He shared his fishing expertise, humor and overwhelming enthusiasm for life with all who came into his orbit. Bill was larger than life and lived it to the fullest. He leaves behind a family and friends who loved him and memories that will keep us laughing for years.
