Russell Hitz
October 25, 1957 - November 4, 2018

Russell "Rosco" Hitz, of Antigo, died Sunday, November 4, 2018, at Aspirus Langlade Hospital. He was 61 years old. He was born on October 25, 1957, in Antigo, a son of the late Edward and Dorothy (Linsdau) Hitz.

He was a graduate of Antigo High School, class of 1972.

He was employed at the Vulcan Plant in Antigo for many years and was most recently employed at Kersten Lumber in Birnamwood.

He enjoyed playing baseball and volleyball. He lived for hunting and fishing. He took fishing trips to Canada and hunting trips to Montana. He also enjoyed camping.

Survivors include a daughter, Rachel (Brandon) Bender of Antigo; a grandson, Damian Bessert; a granddaughter, Mariyea Bender; two step-grandchildren, Brooklyn and Walker Bender; four sisters, Gloria Kelly of Greenville, Alice (Ted) Howard of Antigo, Lois (Jack) Romanowski of Wausau and Donna Long of Antigo; four brothers, Ken (Carol) Hitz, Randy Hitz, Edward Hitz, Jr. and Todd (Dawn) Hitz all of Antigo; a sister-in-law, Tina Hitz of Green Bay; a brother-in-law, Bill Hayes of Phlox. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Aldrich and a brother, Gary Hitz; brothers-in-law, Fred Kelly and Jody Long.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 9, 2018, at 2 p.m. at the Bradley Funeral Home. Visitation will be Friday from 12 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

"Had the privilege to work with Russ for the past 7 1/2 yrs. And all though we had our differences we became good friends over the last couple yrs. He was an honest hard working man!! Loved to hear his hunting and fishing stories. Also bragged about how proud he was of Rachel and loved spending time with his grandson Damian. He will be sadly missed. Thoughts and prayers to the family. Out paths will cross again old friend!! "

"I Worked with Roscoe (Russell) for 11 years at Vulcan in Antigo. When you had a conversation with Roscoe you could alwsys expect it to turn into a racing subject as he sure loved his races. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Hitz family. Roy and Nancy St.Peter "
