Scott R. Johnson
February 2, 1965 - November 6, 2018

Scott Randall Johnson, the son of Gary M. and Peggy A. (Bryant) Johnson was born February 2, 1965 in Shenandoah, Iowa. He passed away on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital in Red Oak, Iowa.

Scott grew up in Essex, Iowa and attended school in Essex for two years. Then at the age of seven he attended the Iowa School for the Deaf in Council Bluffs, Iowa and graduated in 1984. He lived in Red Oak, Iowa with his little dog KoKo. He worked as a cook in restaurants and cafés. When he wasn't working, he was usually with his mother helping her with yard work and gardening. He was a member of Team Tap and Relay for Life. He was a cancer survivor for over 20 year and was a proud member of the Eagles and Eagles Riders of Red Oak, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his father, three brothers Karl Hubert, Gregary Howard and Clint Andrew Johnson, sister Trina Renie Johnson, grandparents Hubert and Frances Bryant and Perl and Violet Johnson, four aunts Ruby Livingston, Arlene Burnison, Shirley Bengtson and JoAnn Bregman, nine uncles Charles Bryant, Dallas and Oren Johnson, Glen Burnison, Jim Bengtson, John Bergman, Kenneth Livingston, Ray Hockenberry and Raymond Bryant. Also by great aunts, uncles and great grandparents.

He is survived by his mother, Peggy Johnson of Essex, Iowa; aunt Lula Hockenberry of Hastings, NE and uncle Harold Dinsmore and wife Eloise of Farragut, IA as well as numerous cousins and dear friends.

Celebration of life memorial graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m., Thursday, November 15, 2018 at the Essex Cemetery in Essex, Iowa.

Memorials may be directed to the Red Oak Eagles Club or the Red Oak Eagles Club Riders.

"I was honored to have Scott in my Language class at the Iowa School for the Deaf. He was also part of a Jr. High Choir that did three television Christmas programs. We loved Scott as part of the ISD family. He has been lifted up on eagle's wings and placed in the palm of God's hand. He is etched in our hearts. "

"To the family of Scott Johnson it hard to believe he gone i have always cherish our friendship with him he was the president of Shenandoah Iowa deaf club when we first started it out Wilma Sparks was the sec and i was the treasure we had a blast starting this club and held it in the library basement we once did use the West Pagement center too very open mind cherish guy i ever met he love to help others out well Scott you have gain your wings untilo we met again I'm deaf too so is my husband Ronald&Terri ann Fetz"
