Wilbert H. Borcherding
June 5, 1928 - November 13, 2018

Wilbert H. Borcherding, 90, of Hampton, formerly of Latimer, passed away on Tuesday, November 13, 2018, at Franklin General Hospital in Hampton. He was born on June 5, 1928, in Hampton, the son of Herman and Martha Borcherding.

Wilbert served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War in Germany, where he met and married his wife Margot Friz in 1952.

Wilbert farmed in Franklin County. He was a member of the Hansen-Have American Legion in Latimer and a lifelong member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Latimer.

Wilbert enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, and spending time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed building toy chests and step stools for his family and friends.

Wilbert is survived by his wife Margot Borcherding of Hampton, daughter Karin Winwood of Williamsburg, daughter Susan and husband Lyle Paine of Mason City, granddaughter Lisa (Jason) Rheinberg of Warsaw, Poland, and their children Benjamin, Alexandra and Harrison, granddaughter Jennifer (Shawn) Allen of Williamsburg, and their children Jacob, Hannah and Zoe, granddaughter Lori (Douglas) Lewis of San Antonio, Texas, and their children Jeremiah and Julie, granddaughter Rachel (Keith) Becker of Williamsburg, and their children Owen, Reid and Levi, brother Wayne and wife Lois Borcherding of Latimer, sister-in-law Sylvia Borcherding of Sheffield, sister-in-law Genevieve Borcherding of Latimer, along with several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Herman and Martha, brothers Rudolph, Donald and Ervin and twin stillborn sons.


In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Hospice of North Iowa.
