Lorraine Kroening
January 16, 1929 - November 23, 2018

Lorraine Ruth Kroening, 89 of St. Charles, died Friday, November 23, 2018 at Whitewater Health Services in St. Charles.
Lorraine was born January 16, 1929 in St. Charles to Joseph and Celia (Pearce) Ryan. On October 27, 1947, she married Robert Kroening in St. Charles. Together they raised 6 children. Lorraine devoted her life to her family, making sure they were always taken care of. Once the grandchildren came, Lorraine really found her calling in life - she loved being a grandma and great-grandma. She and Bob spent a lot of time traveling and camping, often taking grandchildren with them camping at Okoboji. Lorraine never missed a birthday party or gathering that she was invited to. She also enjoyed doll collecting, word search books, playing cards and Bingo. Lorraine was a faithful member of Berea Moravian Church and active in the Berea Women's Fellowship. After 61 years of marriage, Bob passed away in 2008. On October 3, 2009 she married Duane Nienow and he passed away in 2016.
She is survived by five children, Wayne (Lynda), Kim (Marie), Patrick (Penny) all of St. Charles, Craig (Rose) of Eyota and Tami (Mike) Heim of St. Charles; daughter-in-law, Robin Kroening; 17 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; sister, Rita (Dave) Hengel and many nieces and nephews.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband, Bob; son, Terry; 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
Memorial Service will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at Berea Moravian Church with the Reverend Franklin C. Jones officiating. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m., Tuesday at Hoff Funeral & Cremation Service - St. Charles and one hour prior to the service at church. She will be laid to rest at Hillside Cemetery.

"Dear Wayne, Pat, Kim, Craig andTami and family, Please know that I feel your loss for this warm, kind loving Aunt; mother, grandmother and friend. While I did not get to spend alot of time in our later years, when I was a young child she was very much in my life. She was a great mentor and I remember many nights on the old farm sitting on the porch eating watermelon with the family and also the week spent in Rochester when Bob was in charge of St Mary's farm I was probably six years old and remember her laugh and kindness well She is now in a loving place and with loved ones. Blessings to all of you. Bob and Hollie Ciecmierowski"
