Janice Mary Johnson was born June 28, 1917 in Williams, Iowa to Agnes and Albert Johnson. The family eventually moved to Duncombe, Iowa. Janice graduated from Duncombe High School in 1934 and entered Fort Dodge Beauty School and then worked at the Fort Dodge Beauty Academy. On Feb. 6, 1940 Janice married B. W. Briley and they made their home in Fort Dodge. They had two children, Mary Jo and Richard (Rick). In 1948 they moved to Duncombe where they remained for the next 60 years. B.W. died in Dec 1980. Jan was very active in St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Duncombe, the American Legion Auxiliary, Den Mother for the Duncombe Cub Scouts, Election Board member, famous for her quilts she made for family members. She was a nurse, chauffeur, friend, to so many over the years, baker of the BEST chocolate meringue pie and chocolate chip cookies anywhere. Jan Briley was just an all around great person, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother.

Janice M. (Johnson) Briley was also the last of the Duncombe Johnson Clan. Her sisters and brothers Pat, Angie, Alberta, William, Joseph and Richard all went to Heaven before her and because she outlived them for many years she often wondered if they thought she hadn't made it there.

Jan is survived by her two children, Mary Jo Waldeck of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho and Rick (Lucy) Briley of Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Grandma 'B' is also survived by Grandchildren Scott (Kim), Peter (Lucinda), Jamie (Jake) and Jeff. Great Grandchildren Valerie, Amanda (Tim), Eric (Aubrey), Alex and Hunter. Plus Great, Great Grandson Oliver.

Jan's family would like to thank their dearest friend Mary Ellen Murphy of Duncombe who was always there like a daughter for Mom especially at the end, she is truly an Angel.

We'd also like to thank SouthField Wellness Community in Webster City, Iowa for 10 years of quality care and friendship by the entire staff plus UnityPoint Hospice and their dedicated staff for your professionalism.

Lastly we would like to thank all the nieces, nephews and friends who are traveling great distances to be with us and celebrate both Mom's life and the 'Johnson kids' lives.
