David Redick, 83, of Madison, WI passed away of natural causes on November 21, 2018.
Dave grew up with his two brothers near Detroit, MI. When he was 14, the family moved to an 80-acre farm near Ann Arbor, Michigan. He won a four-year tuition scholarship to the University of Michigan, based on grades, activities (Sr. Class President, sports), and need, and started in the fall of 1953. He was a proud member of Beta Theta Pi fraternity. He completed his engineering degree in 1958. Upon graduation he worked as an aerospace engineer for 5 years (rocket engines and satellites) in California, and then started his career in telecom sales and management. In 1965 he earned an MBA in Economics from Santa Clara University (California) and after management positions in several other firms, in 1995 became VP Sales, then President, of a wireless engineering consulting firm www.hntelecom.com. He left in 2000 to be VP and cofounder of a Silicon Valley telecom startup 'Fiberstreet'. He moved to WI in 2004 to be near his grandchildren. He has an honorable discharge from the U.S. Army Reserve.
Dave was passionate about his political views and wrote many books in his efforts to change the course of America. He ran for congress several times in California and WI with the goal of bettering the country for his children and grandchildren. He loved gardening, socializing, and would throw a party to celebrate just about anything. Many great parties were staged during his life starting at U of M, then in California (San Diego, Palo Alto, Corona del Mar, Santa Rosa) and Madison, WI.
He is survived by his daughters, Leslie Redick (The Sea Ranch, CA) and Andrea Redick Nilsen (Madison, WI), grandchildren Erick Nilsen (Madison, WI) and Margaret Nilsen (Madison, WI), brothers Milton Redick (Spring Lake, MI) and Ron Redick (Grand Rapids, MI) as well as many nephews, nieces, extended family and wonderful friends. David was preceded in death by his mother and father, Franklin and Marjorie Redick (Michigan).
A final party will be thrown to celebrate David's life at a later date (tentatively planned for June 2019 in Ann Arbor, MI).

"Dave and met in early September 1953 while he was opening his dorm room door and I was opening mine right across the hall. We've been the closest of friends for over 65 years. I joined Beta Theta Pi Fraternity in Fall of '53 and, because of our friendship, he joined in the Spring. We shared hundreds of memories from Ann Arbor to California and Florida. We always called each other on our birthdays. I didn't get a call this year as, ironically, he died on my birthday. He just visited at my house last August and I'll revere the picture of him sitting in my recliner with my Jack Russell Spike in his lap. Dave was one of a kind and had a big heart for the friends and family he loved. He will be sorely missed. Rest in peace my brother. Al Killeen"
"Memories of David. My Uncle David was generous, thoughtful and kind. Family came first with him -- he maintained a list of family contact info and birthdays, and would call us all on our date. When I decided to try to move to California from Michigan by taking a law clerkship at an Orange County CA firm, David invited me to stay at his home in Newport Beach CA. I had a wonderful summer and saw his daughter Andrew playing NCAA championship level volleyball. Later I helped him with his first campaign for Congress. We shared a love for the Michigan Wolverines football and basketball teams. He will surely be missed by our whole clan, and I look forward to remembering him next summer with our family around.
