Walter "Wid" Winston Piatt
September 6, 1944 - November 30, 2018

Walter "Wid" Winston Piatt was born on September 6, 1944 in Mt. Pleasant, son of, Denver and Virginia (Watson) Piatt. He grew up in Mt. Pleasant and graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1963. Walter enlisted in the Navy in 1963 and was honorably discharged in 1965.

Following the Navy he moved to Des Moines for work until relocating to Whittemore in 1967. He met his sweetheart, Sharon Harms, in Algona while "dragging main." They were united in marriage on September 2, 1967 at the Presbyterian Church in Irvington. Together they lived in Des Moines and Webster City and then returned to Algona where they remained sharing a lifetime of love and happiness.

Walter was always dreaming for new opportunities. At the age of 74, he was talking about a new business idea. His latest side job was buying and selling different baseball caps. Walter shared his love for fishing with all of his nieces and nephews. They each had a "Walt Story." He also enjoyed watching westerns and mysteries on TV and coloring adult coloring books. Walter was known for having a good time, talking, and laughing with others. He was a proud member of the Jaycee's where he served as president and past outstanding president.

Walter died on Friday, November 30, 2018 at West Bend Health and Rehabilitation at the age of 74.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon of West Bend; siblings, Louis (Barbara) Piatt of Ankeny, Ann (Terry) Wilson of Mt. Pleasant; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death are his parents, Denver and Virginia Piatt; step-mother, Anna Mae French; brothers, David and Kevin; parents-in-law, Albert and Margaret Harms; and brother-in-law, Larry Harms.
