Debbie L. Engler, 61, of Burlington, died Saturday, December 1, 2018 at her residence.
Born August 5, 1957 in Iowa City, IA, she was the daughter of John and Mary (Diehl) Dougherty. She married Donald F. Engler February 11, 1978 in Iowa City, IA.
Debbie graduated from Iowa City High School and attended acting school at the University of Iowa. She was a homemaker.
She was of the Christian faith. She was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes, Chicago Cubs and Bears fan. She enjoyed feeding birds, and acting in her younger years. Her seven cats were very dear to her and she especially loved her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband of 40 years, Donald; two daughters, Valerie Engler and Laura Zurmuehlen all of Burlington; six grandchildren, Sara, Audrey, Kolton, Ryan, Cameron and Jacob; mother, Mary of Iowa City, IA; and two sisters, Diane Dougherty of Iowa City, IA and Kathy Dougherty of Tulsa, OK.
She was preceded in death by her father and daughter, Sandra Engler.
The funeral service for Mrs. Engler will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 5th at Lunning Chapel. Rev. David Yonker will officiate. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 4th at Lunning Chapel.
