Somer Syrene Dingman
August 10, 1982 - December 7, 2018

Somer Syrene Dingman, 36, died Friday, December 7, 2018 at Great River Medical Center, West Burlington. She was born August 10, 1982 in Mt. Pleasant to Gerald Herman and Donna Jeanne Ruschill Dingman. A lifelong area resident, she moved to Hope Haven in Burlington in 1989. Somer was a graduate of Burlington High School; was baptized in the Catholic Church; liked listening to Taylor Swift, shaking her rattles and going on outings with her Hope Haven housemates. She contributed to the Hope Haven community by taking part in work force development and was loved by many people.
Preceding Somer in death are her parents, paternal grandmother, both grandfathers, and two nephews. Survivors include Stepmother, Mira Dingman, New London; her sisters; Lacey Dingman and her husband Tim Woodsmall, Arnold, MD, Rachael Thompson and her husband Joseph, Carlisle, IA; step-sisters, Jennifer Brown, New London and Lori (Curt) Wagler, Wayland; Grandmother, Delores Ruschill, Mt. Pleasant; nieces and nephews.
A celebration of her life will be held at 11 AM, December 27 at Elliott Chapel, New London with Mrs. Alisa Brouwer, Celebrant. Friends may call after 9 AM at the chapel and the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Private family burial of her cremains will be held at Burge Cemetery. A memorial has been established for Hope Haven Ertz Home.
Her family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to all of her caregivers who have provided love and support over the years.
