In loving memory of

Robert E. Sampson, Jr
May 24, 1946 - December 3, 2018

Robert Eugene Sampson Jr, age 72, died on December 3, 2018, in Bradenton, FL.

Bob (or Bobby) is survived by his son, Robert Sampson, of St. Lucie, FL; his son, Christopher Sampson, of Anaheim, CA; his mother, Barbara Tanis of Lake George, NY, and his brother, Gary Sampson of Queensbury, NY. He is survived by his granddaughters Mikayla (16), Rebecca (13), Claire (4), and Layla (8 months). He is survived by his nieces Jennifer, Jacqueline, and Lynette, his nephew Adam, and cousins, in-laws, great-nieces and a great-nephew. He is preceded in death by his father, Robert Eugene Sampson Sr, of Pawleys Island, SC, and his sister, Diane Meumann, of Clifton Park, NY.

Bob was born on May 24, 1946 in Brooklyn, NY, to parents Robert and Barbara. He graduated from Lycoming College in Williamsport, PA with a degree in Business Administration (Accounting). In 1970, he moved to Florida to work at the Florida Department of Insurance. He has since lived in Florida the rest of his life, mainly in Tampa and St. Petersburg, and has called Ruskin/Parrish home for the past few years. He also worked as an accountant in the insurance industry up and until his death.

Bob was a great family man and a loving father. He took pride in his sons, Robb for becoming a software engineer, and Chris for serving in the Navy. Bob was a social man to say the least; talking to people and learning about their lives is what he enjoyed the most. He enjoyed playing golf, watching football, and getting a good deal while shopping. His family and friends will always remember him as the nicest, most optimistic person that they could come across. He painted his life as always being great, no matter what the situation was.

A Celebration of Life for Bob Sampson will be on Saturday, December 15, at 1PM at Sound Choice Cremation and Burials, 3825 E. State Road 64, Bradenton, FL 34208. Any acquaintance of Bob is welcome to attend.

"Bob was such a great guy - I will always remember him as one of the most full-of-life people I have ever met. He was as genuine as they come and had such a kind and caring demeanor towards everyone I saw him interact with. Thanks for the great memories, Bob, and a good lesson on how to just be a happy person... "

"Bob was a wonderful and loving man. I will cherish the many years of knowing him from when both his and my children were young until they all became adults. He always made sure to keep in touch with me even though we lived miles apart over the years. Just wish I could have gotten the chance to see him one more time, even though I did speak with him on the phone just a few weeks before his passing. He will be dearly missed."

"Heaven will be a better (and more fun) place with Bobby there. We always had a lot of fun when our families got together and even when we were older. As a kid, I always looked forward to seeing him (my cousin) and we always had good times. I know that he loved his family very much and was very proud of all of their accomplishments. Rest in peace, Bobby. I will miss you. Jill McDonald Fulk "
