Harold J. Anderson
July 21, 1932 - December 10, 2018

Harold passed away on Monday evening, December 10, 2018 at the Westridge Care Center in Clarinda, Iowa.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, December 14, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at the Faith Covenant Church. Burial will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery.

The family will greet friends on Thursday evening at the funeral home from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m.

Memorials maybe directed to the Faith Covenant Church or the 4-H Endowment Fund.

Harold Anderson, son of Reuben and Myrtle (Engster) Anderson, was born July 21, 1932, in Shenandoah, Iowa. He was a 1950 graduate of Essex High School. He married Shirley Beale on December 4, 1955, in Shenandoah, Iowa. He was a life-long farmer and had a passion for feeding cattle. Harold in his early years worked at the Farmer's Cooperative in Shenandoah. He also clerked at various salebarns. Harold and Shirley raised four children on the family farm.

Harold was an active member of the Fremont Covenant Church until its closing. He was currently a member of the Faith Covenant Church of Essex. Harold was actively involved in 4-H. He was a 4-H leader and served on various committees throughout his life. Harold and Shirley were inducted into the Iowa State 4-H Hall of Fame in 2014. They were awarded the Shenandoah Chamber & Industry Association Farm Family of the Year award in 2004. Harold served on the Rural Water Board, treasurer of the Rural Fire Department, and Shenandoah Coop Board. He was an honorary chapter member of the Davis-Rogers FFA.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Reuben & Myrtle Anderson; wife Shirley and son John Anderson.

Harold is survived by his children Steve & Diann Anderson, Brian & Lori Brockman, and Bruce Anderson. Grandchildren Daniel Brockman, Jessica & Travis Riesenberg, Megan and Ryan Hintz, Jonathan Anderson and Scott Brockman; great-grandsons Nicholas & Blake Riesenberg and Luther Hintz; sister Dorothy & Gerald Walter; brother Alfred & Sandy Anderson, nieces and nephews.
