" Who was Deborah Jo Locandro? Deborah Jo Sullivan was born in Miami, FL. on Sept. 10, 1955, to Joseph and Lorraine Sullivan. Joseph Sullivan was in the Navy at the latter part of Lorraine's pregnancy and tragically died four months prior to Deborah's birth, from an accident aboard ship. The family later moved from Miami to Miramar, FL. where she, her mother and her grandparents lived and they all participated in the raising of Deborah. When Deb was about 8 years old, her mother met Michael Rego and eventually got married. Mike Rego was a very special person, who was liked by everyone, but who loved Deborah as if she was his own and along with her mother and her Grandparents played a large part in the person that Deborah turned out to be. Deb attended Madonna H.S. in Miramar and graduated in 1973. She always had a deep love for children and animals, so while attending Broward County Community College, she watched 2 or 3 children at a time, at her house and would take them everywhere with her. Most of the children were very close in age, which caused questions by other women her saw them out, asking if they were all hers. Which she would laugh about and say no, I'm just babysitting. She then met Russ Locandro on Hollywood Beach in 1981. They dated for a little over a year and decided that they were what each other wanted for the rest of their lives and got married on April 10,1983. They hit the road 3 day later in a Ryder truck across country, to Pheonix, AZ. were Russ had a job opportunity. Russ never could convince her that that trip was her honeymoon. They lived there for about 18 months before heading back to Hollywood, FL. were Russ started his pool business back up and Deb continued her education at to F.A.U. part-time. But with the love for children weighing on Deb's heart, they decided to adopt a child of their own. So on Dec. 5, 1986 Eric Micheal Locandro was born and being the proud mother that she was, that made her life complete. In 1996 Deb, Russ and Eric moved to Boynton Bch., were Deb transferred to Palm Beach Cty. School Board and continued to teach. Through the years she got certified as a Reading Coach for 4-5 years and decided to get her Masters Degree in Early Education. So she took and online course and received her Masters Degree in less than two years in Early Education. She worked for the Palm Bch. County School Board for about 17 yrs., before having to retire with a Medical Disability in 2016, after teaching for a combined 24 yrs.. Deborah and Russ were married for 35 yrs. and parented two sons, Russell IV and Eric, who has given them three beautiful grandchildren, Tyler, Ava and most recently Alexandra. Deb is also survived by her mother Lorraine Sullivan, Rego, of Vero Beach, FL., and her mother's brother, Paul Preite and wife Carol, from Texas, with their daughter, Brandy Preite, Koch, which is Deborah's Goddaughter, and her two sons, Grant & Gavin, which are Deborah's Godson's, all from Texas. She was a special spirit and will be missed by many. May she now Rest In Peace in Heaven with our Father and live in our hearts forever and ever. Amen "

Russ, we support you and know a part of our heart is empty without her influence of a fighting spirit and positive attitude. Blessings, Michelle Brennan, RN UF Health Proton Therapy Institute"

Carol Preite wrote on Dec 15, 2018:

"Deborah became a special part of my life in 1973 when I met her and we became family by my marriage to her uncle, Paul Preite. The following year, Deborah became godmother to our daughter, Brandie Preite (Koch). Eventually, Deborah also became godmother to both of Brandie's sons. Her love shined through even in her darkest days. Deborah had such a beautiful spirit and made a forever loving impact on our lives. May her beautiful and gentle soul forever rest in peace and her memory be for a blessing. We will miss you in so many ways and no words can convey how deeply your love is etched in our hearts. We were blessed to have you for the time that we did. "

"Debbie was one of my best friends, our group of girlfriends was called The Big Thrill Tribel women. We had a special bond. Debbie was also my Maid of Honor. As much as I had to say goodbye to my dear friend , I am so relieved to see her not in discomfort that she had been facing for years. She is in heaven with God and family that has also gone too soon. I will miss you Deb and you will always be in my heart . We Love you, Linda and Tom"
