Robert Carl Armstrong
February 21, 1934 - December 25, 2018

With his beloved children and wife near, Robert (Bob) C. Armstrong died on December 25, 2018, at his home under Hospice care from complications of a stroke he suffered 17 years ago. Bob was born in Seattle, Washington, on February 21, 1934. He graduated from Garfield High School in 1952 after which he joined the Navy where he trained as a corpsman. After his service in the Navy, Bob graduated with honors from the University of Washington. Bob worked for prominent architectural firms throughout his career and ventured out on his own where he was proud to have designed homes in the greater Seattle area including his own in the Mt. Baker District.

Bob had a passion for the arts, golfing, gardening, bird watching, crossword puzzles, rooting for the Seahawks and Mariners, and keeping up with local and national politics. He was married to his wife, Carolyn, for 62 years, loved his family unconditionally and was always there for advice and emotional support.

Bob is predeceased by his father, Sherwood, and mother, Marjorie Grothe. He is survived by his sister, Sherry Price; wife, Carolyn; three children, Victoria (Brian) Steckler, Kathryn, and Robert; seven grandchildren, Daniel Steckler, Nicholas Wright, Kathryn (Thomas) Beattie, Timothy Borsini, Rachel Borsini, Allison Steckler, and Miles Armstrong; and three great grandchildren, Audrey Wright, Jack Wright, and Henry Beattie. He is mourned by family and friends.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 19, 2019, at Mercer Island Presbyterian Church at 2:00 p.m. followed by a reception. Those who wish to make a gift in memory of Bob can contribute to your favorite armed forces charity.
