Eleanor (Groden) Grennon, 82, of Davie, Florida, passed away on Tuesday, December 25, 2018.
Eleanor was born in Bessemer, Alabama to the late Grace and Herbert King on August 22,1936. Eleanor spent a lifetime teaching and mentoring young children. She taught kindergarten at her local church earlier in her career and later cared for young children, including many of her grandchildren whom she loved dearly. She loved all holidays, especially Christmas, and always made them special for her family as well as for the children she taught and mentored. She loved flowers of every kind and could name each one. Her favorite was the Gardenia. Eleanor was a kind, loving person that put others' needs above her own. Regardless of her personal situation, Eleanor saw to it that there was always a hot meal prepared at her table for anyone who was hungry. Eleanor loved The Lord and openly shared her faith in Jesus to anyone she met.
Eleanor is survived by her sister Josephine Davis and brother Lamar King, as well as her five children, thirteen grandchildren, and twenty-seven great grandchildren: her daughter Linda Putnam; son Brian Szymula and his wife Daniza, along with their children David, Noah, and Faith; son Brad Putnam and his wife Stephanie and their children Brandy and Brooke. Also her daughter Sheila Hedden and son Joshua Hedden; daughter Jennifer Montalvo and her husband Patrick and their children Austin, Aiden, Ava, and Aryana; son Jeffrey Hedden and his wife Felicia and child Rylee; son Jonathan Hedden and his wife JoAnn and children Chase, Cheyanne, Jacob and Jonathan Jr. Daughter Sheryl Yeager and husband Richard- daughter Christina Colgan and her husband Jonathan and children Connor and Callan; son Alan Andux. Son Jay Groden and wife Marti- daughter Jessica Cepeda and her husband Isaac and children McKailee and Caleb. Daughter Denise Urbizo and husband Orbie- son Scott Urbizo and his wife Lauren and children Copelyn, Brooks and Holland; son Michael Urbizo and his wife Payton and children Rhyan and Emersyn; son Matthew Urbizo and his wife Catalina and children Jack and Kate; daughter Nikki Kwiatkowski and husband Joe and children Rhain and Blake.
Services will be held Saturday, January 5, 2019 at Fred Hunter's Funeral Home in Hollywood, Florida. The family will receive friends at Fred Hunter's Funeral Home from 12-2pm with the Funeral Service following at 2:00PM. Burial will follow at Fred Hunter cemetery; arrangements made by Fred Hunter's Funeral Home.
The family of Eleanor wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Aunt Josephine for all the special things she has done for our mom her entire life and always looking after her.

"To the family, please remember that she lived a good life and was to my memory very welcoming to the children in the old neighborhood . she taught me in kindergarten and fed me lunch often. she would let all the kids play in her yard and was very loving. I had the chance to see her recently and she was still so kind. I am so sorry for your loss of this wonderful woman. she is at peace now. steve cook"
