Kenneth Martin Nehring
November 8, 1940 - January 6, 2019

Kenneth Martin Nehring, 78, of New London, died Sunday, January 6, 2019 at the University of Iowa Hospitals. He was born November 8, 1940 in West Union, Iowa to Donald Martin and Roena Virginia Kutschat Nehring. On November 19, 1961, he married Sharon Kay Angstead in New London; she died November 3, 2009.
He was a 1959 graduate of New London High School where he was a tight-end on the 58-59 undefeated football team. He was of the Methodist faith. Mr. Nehring worked 45 years at IAAP, retiring in 2008; then did consulting for 2 years and was a courtesy driver for Shottenkirk.
He was a member of Masonic Lodge #28 AF &AM; enjoyed antique cars, dirt track racing, Indy 500, car shows, working on cars and doing bodywork, time with kids and grandkids, and was an avid Green Bay Packers fan.
Survivors include two sons, Jeffrey (Kim) Nehring and Jason (Kelli) Nehring, both of New London; three daughters, Kimberly (Rodger) Wagner, New London, and twins Kathryn (Tim) Miller, Burlington and Karin (William) Cadwallader , Vichy, MO; 12 grandchildren, Whitney (Lukas) Saunders; Kaci (Justin) Mertens; Blake and Dustin Nehring; Kamryn and Kingsley Miller; Brody, Brenna, Baylie, and Brayden Cadwallader; Colton and Owen Nehring; one great-granddaughter, Charley Saunders; brother Curt (Joan) Nehring, Mt. Pleasant; nieces and nephews.
Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by infant son, James, infant daughter, Donna, and nephew, Danny Nehring.
The funeral service for Kenneth Nehring will be 11:00 Friday at Elliott Chapel. Pastor Brian Swafford will officiate. Burial will follow at Burge Cemetery. Visitation will begin at noon Thursday with family present from 5 - 7 PM. Memorials have been established for New London Fire and Rescue and Black and Gold Backers.
