Edward Junior Olson, 90, of Winona, died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2019 at Sugar Loaf Senior Living.
Eddie was born Feb. 5, 1928 in Pickwick to Edward and Ina (Nelson) Olson. On Oct. 22, 1949, he married Lucille Tarras at the parsonage of Grace Ev. Lutheran Church in Ridgeway. In 1945, Eddie began his career driving truck hauling crushed rock for Fred Fakler. In 1956 he began driving trucks for Briggs Transportation until 1981. He then began farming for his cousin Dean Suffrins until he retired in 1992.
Eddie loved to be outside, especially deer hunting, trout fishing or tinkering in the yard in Pickwick. He and Lucy loved to polka dance with friends at the Hilltop Ballroom. But Eddie's most treasured times were those spent with his family - especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren who meant the world to him.
He is survived by his wife, Lucille; son, Greg (Cathy) Olson of Winona; three daughters, Bonnie (Robert) Postl of Appleton, WI, Robin (Jeff) Peterson of Winona and Angel (Robert) Praxel of Winona; nine grandchildren, Erik (Tracy) Olson, Ally (Brandon) Curtis, Abby (Taylor) Gammons, Jake Postl, Ashley (Josh) Erickson, Summer Peterson, Hannah Peterson, Ella Praxel and Lane Praxel; three great-grandchildren, Riley and Spencer Olson and Nora Curtis; sister, Alida (Mel) Dingfelder and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Eldon Olson.
Funeral service will be 12 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 12, 2019 at St. Luke's Ev. Lutheran Church in Pickwick with the Reverend James Nelson officiating. Visitation will be 10 a.m., until the time of the service. He will be laid to rest at Pickwick Cemetery. Hoff Celebration of Life Center - Goodview is assisting the family with arrangements.
