In loving memory of

Joan Elkins
June 30, 1937 - January 22, 2019

Joan Elkins, age 81, of Toms River passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at Complete Care at Green Acres, Toms River. Born in Red Bank, she grew up in Fair Haven and lived in Lincroft for many years before moving to Toms River.

Joan worked as a dietician for many years at area care centers, including Claremont Care Center in Point Pleasant. She loved her pets, and took pleasure in keeping her hair looking its best. She bragged that in sixty years, she never washed her own hair, and always said "When I go, you better make sure my hair is done!" OK, Ma, you got it!

Her furbaby, Foxy, passed away exactly one year before she did. She is survived by her daughters, Marianne Levy, Theresa Denning, and Karen Calandriello; her grandchildren, Erica Harper and her husband Jason, Michael Denning and his wife Julie, and Chrissy Schulz and her husband Jon; and her great grandchildren, Giavanna and Deegan Harper and Andrew Denning, with another great-grandson on the way; and her furbaby, Ally.

Services were private and entrusted to Horizon Funeral and Cremation Services, 1329 Route 37 West, Toms River.
