Thomas Slagle
May 26, 1932 - January 21, 2019

Thomas P. Slagle, 86, of Lake City and formerly of Fort Dodge passed away Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at Shady Oaks Care Center, Lake City.
Visitation and Celebration of Life services 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, January 27, 2019 at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home.
Thomas is survived by his son, Jim (Lori) Slagle of Loveland, CO; daughter, Kim (Roger) Clark of Lake City; grandchildren, Luke Slagle; Ashley Slagle; Sean Cartee; Tim Cartee; Brandon Anderson; Sara Ayala; Sandra Angerbauer; Jennifer Handy; Nicole Slagle; 14 great-children; and brother, William Slagle of Fort Dodge.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Elsie (Birkett) Slagle; wife, Lorraine; daughter, Katherine Cartee; son, Ricky Slagle; grandson, Gabe Slagle and second wife, Dora.
Thomas Paul Slagle was born May 26, 1932 in Magnet, Nebraska. As a young child, Tom and his family moved to Fort Dodge. He attended Fort Dodge schools and graduated from FDSH. He began working for the Tobin Meat Packaging Company and retired in 1981. On December 31, 1951 he was united in marriage to Lorraine Dahlquist at the Riverside Methodist Church in Fort Dodge. The couple first made their home in Fort Dodge and then later Clare. They later divorced. Thomas served for the United States Navy from 1951 until his honorable discharge in 1955. In 1997, Thomas married Dora Mernka and the couple made Fort Dodge their home until Dora's passing in 2016.
