Sharon Rose Goggins, 68, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2019 at her home in Plantation, FL. Born May 18, 1950 in Indianapolis, IN to Stanley and Blanche Kern, Sharon was the fifth of eight children in a family eventually completed by her loving stepmother Sara Kern. She grew up on the south side of Indianapolis, where first friends became lifelong friends.
Upon graduating from St. Louis University, Sharon returned to Indianapolis, where employment with a real-estate company fortuitously kindled a romance with her coworker, Jim Goggins. Jim and Sharon were married July 24, 1976 and had four children, Erin, Matt, Ryan, and Todd. Sharon whole-heartedly dedicated her life to her family, and in doing so, their hobbies became hers. She could be found cheering at a little league game, camping with the Girl Scouts, or fishing in the Keys. For years she enjoyed playing competitive tennis for Lago Mar Country Club, and took every opportunity to indulge her penchant for musical theater. A member of St. David's Catholic Church, she exemplified His teachings in her daily life, influencing those around her in the most positive ways. Faced with just about any dilemma, she managed to keep things in perspective and recognize what was truly important in life. With her sunny outlook, she could make you feel better on your worst day. Easy-going and truly kind, her internal beauty matched her radiant appearance. Simply put, to know her was to love her.
Her strength of spirit became perhaps even more apparent after her diagnosis of Progressive Supranuclear Palsy in 2014. In recent years, she found solace from a PSP support group she and Jim attended. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Sharon is survived by her husband, Jim Goggins, her children, Erin (Doug) Riordan, Matt Goggins, Ryan (Terri) Goggins, and Todd (Katie) Goggins; grandchildren, Carson and Blake Goggins, Finn and Sawyer Riordan; siblings Kay Beck, Ellen Tallach, Ken Kern, Marilyn Smock, Chuck Kern, and Joe Kern; and stepmother Sara Kern. Predeceased by her parents, Stanley and Blanche Kern, and brother, Tom Kern.
A funeral mass will take place at 1:30 P.M. on Friday, February 1, 2019 at St. David Catholic Church, 3900 S. University Drive, Davie, FL. Celebration of Life Reception to follow at Lago Mar Country Club, 500 NW 127th Ave, Plantation, FL. In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to www.curepsp.org or locally to St. David's Hope Outreach www.hopeoutreachfl.org.

" As a cousin to Sharon on the Adamek Side of the family I have so many fond memories of Sharon and her entire family as they would spend a lot of time on the family farm with my family in bird Island Minnesota
In the summer of 1966 I lived with the entire current family and had an internship with uncle Stan at Eli Lilly. I immediately became a member of that family as we all had so much fun boarding and skiing I?m playing basketball in the front yard.
When Sharon and Jim got married my entire Adamek clang rented a huge RV and travel to their wedding. We never wanted to miss a current celebration. I was always so impressed with how close and dedicated the Kern family was to each other. Something we all admired.
I am so sorry for your loss and I wish I could be there to Celebrate her life with Family??????? a celebrate her life with family and friends. "
