Sylvester E. Brace
May 4, 1925 - January 26, 2019

Sylvester Earnest Brace was born May 4, 1925, in Burt son of Gerald and Tressie (Ringsdorf) Brace. He grew up on a farm near Burt graduating from Burt High School in 1943.

On June 19, 1949, Sylvester was united in marriage to Beatrice "Charlene" Rath at the Methodist Church in Algona. They farmed and raised their three sons near Lone Rock. Sylvester enjoyed playing cards, gardening, attending flea markets, collecting farm toys, and he loved his chocolate too. He was an active member of the Lone Rock Presbyterian Church serving on many church groups throughout the years. He also was a member of Farm Bureau for 40 plus years serving as president for 3 years. Sylvester also served as a Fenton Township Trustee.

Sylvester became a resident of Acura Healthcare in Bancroft in April, 2017. He died Saturday, January 26, 2019, under the care of Hospice of the Heartland. He was 93.

He is survived by ; three sons, Keven Brace and his wife Darlene of Ames, Jason Brace and his wife Deanne of Lone Rock, and Brian Brace and his wife Kari of Algona; seven grandchildren, Vesper Brace of Ames, Chandra Haak and husband Brian of Chanhassen, MN, Jessa Erickson and her husband Jason of Walnut, Aaron Brace and his wife Amy of Ankeny, Amber Brace of Mankato, Briana Vautier and her husband Cole of Johnston, and Hannah Brace (Dave Connick) of Sherwood Park, Alberta, Canada; and six great-grandchildren, Maya, Peter, and Adam Haak, Piper and Oliver Erickson, and Eli Brace. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Charlene Brace on November 27, 2017.
