Marion A. Sheldon
January 1, 1924 - January 27, 2019

Marion passed away on Sunday morning, January 27, 2019 at the Fairfax Community Hospital.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 31, 2019 at the Trinity Lutheran Church. Visitation with the family will take place one hour prior to the services at the church. Burial will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Trinity Lutheran Church or the Porter's Lake Lutheran Center.

Marion Augusta (Gangelhoff) Sheldon, the daughter of Jacob Henry Gangelhoff and Helene Rose Gangelhoff, was born at Cass Lake, Minnesota, on January 1, 1924, and passed away at Community Hospital Fairfax in Fairfax, Missouri on January 27, 2019, at the age of 95. As a child, Marion's family moved to East Grand Forks, Minnesota where she graduated from high school. After graduation, Marion moved to Washington DC with several of her sisters, where she worked for the Navy Department and met Kenneth W Sheldon. After several years in Washington DC, Marion returned to East Grand Forks where she and Kenneth married on September 9, 1950 at the First Lutheran Church. After Kenneth was discharged from the Army they made their home in Shawnee, Kansas where Marion was a homemaker and mother of 2 sons and 4 daughters. In 1966 they moved their family to Shenandoah Iowa, where they lived many years. In November of 2013 Marion moved into her daughter's home in Fairfax, Missouri and in June of 2014 she moved to Pleasant View Nursing Home in Rock Port, Missouri where she resided until her death.

Marion was active at Trinity Lutheran Church in many ministries, including Porter's Lake Lutheran Center. She sang in the church choir until she was unable, due to health issues. She enjoyed helping with Vacation Bible School and was very active with children's ministry well into her later years. She also served as the church secretary for many, many years. She enjoyed bowling, acting as a junior bowling coach for many years and bowled on a league until she was close to 80 years old. She volunteered at the local food pantry and helped with many service projects and fund raisers for people in need and with many AAL activities.

Preceding Marion in death, were her parents, her husband Kenneth, a daughter, Denise Sheldon, grandson, John Wik; sisters, Helen Gangelhoff, Pearl Hultgren, Gertrude Antonicci, and Irene Knotts and brother, Vernon Gangelhoff.

She is survived by children, Mark Sheldon and wife Marlene of Sedalia, MO, Teresa Wik and husband Denis of San Jose, CA., Deanna Beck and husband Greg of Fairfax, MO., Kirby Sheldon and wife Staci of Idaho Falls, ID., and Stephanie Jones and husband Kevin of Gilbert, AZ.; 21 grandchildren,; 25 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; sisters Betty Ford of Mt. Morris, IL.; Lorraine Rice of Arvada, CO.; Dorothea VanLoo of Arvada, CO., and Myrtle Filipi of Arvada, CO.; brothers Gordon Gangelhoff of The Villages, FL and Rodger Gangelhoff, Mt Morris, IL; along with many other relatives and a host of friends.
