Wahneta Ruth Springer
October 9, 1918 - January 26, 2019

Wahneta R. Springer, 100, of Sergeant Bluff, IA passed away on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at Pioneer Valley Living and Rehab in Sergeant Bluff.

Services will be held at a 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at Mohr Funeral Home in South Sioux City. Visitation will begin at 1:30 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home.

Wahneta was born October 9, 1918 in Bowling Green, Ohio, the daughter of Clarence and Catherine (Collins) Dick. She grew up and graduated from high school in Bowling Green, then attended nursing school. Wahneta married Dale Smith and they were blessed with 3 children. She later married Elroy Springer. She worked at the Heinz plant in Bowling Green until moving to Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1950. She then began her nursing career, working as a Doctors' Assistant in private doctors offices until 1974, when she became a nursing assistant travel companion, traveling in Europe. She retired in Florida, then moved to Arizona and Arkansas before moving to Sergeant Bluff, IA in 2016 to be closer to her daughter and son-in-law.

She thoroughly enjoyed traveling and was able to travel around the world. She also enjoyed her yardwork.

Survivors include her daughters, Patricia Faltyn of Phoenix, AZ; Linda (Jeff) Torticill of Homer, NE; son, Ronald Smith of Berryville, AR; 2 granddaughters, Terri (Dan) Chester and Mary Lynn Aldrich; 1 grandson, Sean (Nicole) Smith; 6 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; daughter-in-law, Pat Smith; and 2 sisters and brothers-in-law, Winifred (Elwood) Reed and Margerite (Howard) Eckel.
