Terrence Lee Bird (Terry or T-Bird) 83, of Ames, Iowa passed away peacefully at his home in Ames, on January 26, 2019. The family invites you to join us for a time of sharing at Grandon Funeral and Cremation Care, 414 Lincoln Way, Ames, Iowa from 2:00-4:00 p.m. Saturday, February 9, 2019.
Terry was born January 13, 1936 in Omaha, Nebraska, the son of Mervin and Shirley Bird. He graduated from Benson high school in 1953. Terry entered the military in 1959 and served until 1962. He married Marlene Ashmore on March 9, 1960 in Ames, Iowa. Terry was a law-enforcement officer and detective, for the city of Ames for more than 42 years, retiring in 2002.
Terry is survived by his daughters Michelle Sime (Scott Schoba) and Traci Brooks (Brian Towle), granddaughters Alex Sime and Elizabeth Brooks, brother Brian Bird (Diane Bird), one niece, and two nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, and brother, Loren Bird.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to family or the Ames Police Department's Shop With A Cop program.
