Norman H Bourn
November 11, 1922 - February 1, 2019

Norman H. Bourn, 96, of Burlington died Friday, February 1, 2019 at Danville Care Center.
Born November 8, 1922 in Detroit, Michigan he was the son of Alpha and Mary (Mame) Bourn. He married Elizabeth J. "Betty" Perrenoud on April 18, 1954 in Winfield, Iowa.
Norman worked as a custodian for SCC for 25 years. He then began driving a bus for Trailways for 10 years until his retirement in 1993. Before going to work for SCC he owned and operated a service station in Burlington.
He served in the Army/Air Force during WWII and Korea. He was the recipient of an Oak Leaf Cluster, Bronze Star, Silver Star and four Major Bell of Stars.
He was a member of Masonic Lodge 32nd Degree, Shriner's, American Legion, Sam's Club (camping), Iowa Nature Conservatory and Grace United Methodist Church.
He enjoyed camping and bird watching and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Green Bay Packers fan.
He is survived by his wife Elizabeth "Betty" Bourn of Burlington; two daughters, Cheryl (Tom) Carney of Geneseo, Illinois and Norma "Jeannie" (Rick) Chapman of Tea, South Dakota; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren; two half-brothers, A.J. (Marilyn) Bourn of Macomb, Illinois and Wesley (Cynthia) Bourn of Burlington and one half-sister June (Red) Nollen of Burlington.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one half-brother and one half-sister.
Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 4th at Lunning Chapel. The Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard will conduct military rites at 10:00 a.m. According to his wishes, cremation will be accorded following the military rites. Inurnment will be held at a later date in Winfield-Scott Cemetery, Winfield, Iowa.

"Chuck and I met Betty and Norm on one of our many camping trips to Fisherman's Corner Campground in Hampton Illinois. We enjoyed his many stories of serving under Patton in the war. Chuck took Norm on the Honor Flight to Washington DC for WWII vets. Chuck said Norm enjoyed the trip immensely. Hugs and prayers to Betty and the entire family. "
