Germaine Schwanke
May 14, 1935 - February 3, 2019

Germaine Arlys Schwanke, 83 of Winona, died Sunday, February 3, 2019 at Lake Winona Manor.
Germaine was born May 14, 1935 in Strum, WI to Alton and Lorraine (Munson) Goodermote. On June 3, 1961 she married Clarence Schwanke at Central Lutheran Church in Mondovi, WI. Germaine studied to become a licensed practical nurse at Winona General Hospital and worked in various nursing roles in Winona, most recently retiring in 2000 from Madison Elementary School.
Germaine enjoyed playing Bingo with her many friends, going out to eat and spending time with her family. She had the gift of gab and enjoyed talking with everyone, especially sharing stories about her two grandsons, who were her pride and joy. She is most known for her warm hugs, kind nature, positive attitude and love for all people.
She is survived by her husband, Clarence; two sons, Todd Schwanke of Winona and Jeff (Barb) Schwanke of Winona; two grandsons, Casey & Caleb Schwanke; sister, Bonnie Galebides of South Amboy, NJ; brother, Harold Goodermote of Kimberly, WI and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Terrie Harm.
Funeral Service will be 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at Hoff Celebration of Life Center - Goodview. Visitation will be 3:30 until the time of the service. Germaine will be laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery in Mondovi.

"I married her cousin Dan forty some years ago and from the very first time we met, I loved her. Whenever we gathered together always made feel welcome with the biggest hug.
