Margaret Mary LaPlante
March 1, 1955 - February 2, 2019

Margaret (Peggi) LaPlante passed away following a battle with colon cancer, with her husband, Brian, son and daughter by her side. Peggi was born in Garfield Heights, OH, with Peggi's family relocating to Edmonds in 1969 where she was a graduate of Meadowdale H.S. in 1972, WSU in 1977 with a BA in Speech and Antioch University in 1994 with a Masters in Special Education K - 12 and Elementary Education K - 8. Peggi's work history is vast as she was always open to any opportunity that came her way. She worked as a Buyer Assistant with Ben Bridge, Manager of Fine Jewelry with JC Penney from 1980-1990, gaining extended knowledge in gemology and diamond sales. In 1989-1993 she worked for a variety of companies as a Vendor Representative managing inventory, moving on to teaching in the Edmonds School District from 1994-2011 and from 2011 - 2019 she worked at Macys, Chateau Ste. Michelle Winery and in various districts as a substitute teacher, specializing in math - as well as being a co-owner in a math tutoring business. Peggi's volunteer work in schools, Westgate Chapel and later North Sound Church allowed her to pursue her passion of teaching as she excited the interests of children. Peggi loved to participate in the activities for her own children both on the road and in the community. Peggi is survived by her husband of 41 years, Brian, and her children Robert and Aubrey, She is also survived by her mother, Margaret Ptacek; her brothers Rick, Mike and Tim Ptacek and her sisters Nancy McCartney, Mary Callahan and Kathy Welch; her in-laws Greg LaPlante and his wife, Linda, and Jeanine LaPlante; 20 nieces and nephews and 1 great niece along with many cousins. She is preceded in death by her father, Richard Ptacek, and her brothers Ken and Bob Ptacek. Peggi had a vibrant personality and will be greatly missed.
