Virgie Helen Brown

Virgie Helen Brown, 93, of Burlington, died Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at Great River Klein Center.
Born May 16, 1925 in Wever, IA, she was the daughter of William Edward and Lottie Jane (Marsh) McGinity. She married Harold C Brown Sr. on September 16, 1940 in Kahoka, MO. He preceded her in death on November 20, 2012.
Virgie cleaned houses and was employed at Sickels Laundry for 27 years before retiring in 1988.
She was affiliated with the Salvation Army, Women's Home League and the Marine Corps League Auxiliary. She had many hobbies including, crossword puzzles, word searches, and caring for her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
Survivors include four children, Harold C. (Mary) Brown Jr. of Burlington, Clara Jane (Jerry) Ingwersen of New London, IA, Diana Jean (Halvor) Plummer, and Randy Dwayne Brown both of Burlington; twenty four grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 4 brothers, 2 sisters, 1 great grandchild and 1 great-great grandchild.
Mrs. Barbara Michael will officiate. According to her wishes, cremation will be accorded following services. Inurnment will be in Claypoole Cemetery, Wever, IA at a later date. Memorials have been established for the Salvation Army and Great River Hospice.
