Ruby Agusta Haugen
August 2, 1930 - February 6, 2019

Mrs. Ruby Agusta (Sovold) Haugen, of Seattle, Washington, born on August 2, 1930 in Vashon, Washington, to the late Malena and Ole Sovold, passed away at age 88 on February 6, 2019. Ruby was the beloved wife of Ivan Haugen. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Art and Norman; sister, Marie and sister in law, Doris. Ruby is survived by sisters, Borge and Ruth; sister-in-laws, Joan and Shirley; and brother-in-laws, Gary and Peter. Ruby also has surviving children and grandchildren including her sons, Robert and Brian; son-in-law Duane; daughter, Karen; daughter-in-law, Linda; her grand children; Chris, Andrew, and Jessica and her great grand children; Armani, Lena, and Cassie. Her husband Ivan continues to live in their family home.
Ruby met her husband Ivan at a ballroom in Seattle and they enjoyed ballroom and swing dancing. Ruby and Ivan were married on February 11, 1955 and then 6 years later, purchased their home on Wallingford Ave and remained there to raise their children. Ruby hosted many gatherings with friends and family and always made sure her home was well cared for. Ruby loved jazz, traveling, dancing, and tending to her flowers. Her and her husband Ivan spent time traveling to Dixieland Jazz festivals. They also enjoyed their time traveling to Norway to explore both of their families heritage. She was also a long time member of Saint John Lutheran Church and both herself, her husband and children celebrated many events there. Her and her husband also enjoyed spending time at the Baranof, Azteca, and the China Jade with their friends. Ruby was an animal lover and she regularly donated to multiple charities that benefited animals.
Ruby was a very loving mother, grandmother, and friend who was dear to many.
Friends and family can pay their respects at the funeral service on Wednesday, February 20 from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Evergreen-Washelli Funeral Home, 11111 Aurora Ave N, SEATTLE, Washington, 98133.
