Marilyn Lee Davis
August 12, 1932 - February 7, 2019

Marilyn Lee Davis, 86, of New London, died Thursday, February 7, 2019 at Mercy Hospital ICU, Iowa City. She was born August 12, 1932 in Winfield to Elzie Earl and Imogene Mary Krohn Garmoe. On January 4, 1951, she married Earl Davis, Jr. in a double ceremony with his brother, Gordon Davis and wife Delores Lemmon at Faith Lutheran Church, Mt. Pleasant. Mrs. Davis was a 1950 graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School, a member of New London United Methodist Church and was a wonderful homemaker. Her hobbies included needlework, crochet, cross stitch; search, crossword and jigsaw puzzles; canning from her garden and collecting stuffed animals. She enjoyed watching mystery movies, playing cribbage, canasta and dominoes, and especially time spent with grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband of 68 years, she is survived by three daughters, Deb (Dave) Kempker, New London, Barb (Paul) Miller, Mt. Union, and Karen (Cory) Ogier, Sierra Vista, AZ; one son, Jeff (Berdette) Davis, Mt. Pleasant; 14 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren with one due in April; one sister, Virginia Anderson, New London and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Bernice Speidel and three brothers, Robert, Dale and Aubrey Garmoe.
The funeral service for Mrs. Davis will be 11:00 Monday at Elliott Chapel, New London, with Pastor Kathleen Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Burge Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM with the family receiving friends for one hour prior to the service. Memorials have been established for New London Fire and Rescue or New London United Methodist Church.
