Sheila Nissen
December 17, 1947 - February 7, 2019

Sheila Rae Ann Nissen, 71, of Monroe WA, passed away at 9:00 AM, Thursday, February 7th, 2019 while receiving hospice care at the home of her daughter. She was born on December 17th, 1947 in Minot, ND, to Ira and Pearl Nissen.

She is survived by her son, Darrell Veltkamp Jr. of Vancouver, WA, her daughter, Tarrell Johnston of Monroe, WA, two brothers, Roger Nissen of Jefferson, OR, and Jerald Nissen of Las Vegas, NV, two grandchildren Jake and Pearl as well as several beloved nieces and nephews.

Her mother, father and brother Richard Nissen preceded her in death.

In addition to Monroe, WA, Sheila had most recently resided in the cities of Issaquah, WA and Salem, OR. She graduated from Lower Columbia College, Longview, WA in 1980 as a Registered Nurse.

Sheila worked as a Registered Nurse for over three decades specializing in geriatric as well as neonatal nursing. She took great pride in her convictions for patient advocacy and quality of care. She was also very proud of the countless number of premature babies she contributed to saving while working in Longview, WA.

Sheila enjoyed various arts and crafts like scrapbooking, sewing and fiber arts and was quite good at it. She loved the beach, especially the Oregon Coast and the town of Depoe Bay. Most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Her remains are interned in the Maplewood Cremation Garden at Lincoln Memorial Park in Happy Valley, OR. Suggested memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Breast Cancer Charity of your choice.
