Salvatore F. "Sal" Lembo
April 5, 1955 - February 18, 2019

Salvatore F. "Sal" Lembo, 63, of Maquoketa, Iowa, passed away on Monday afternoon, February 18, 2019, at the Jackson County Regional Health Center in Maquoketa, Iowa.

Friends and family may gather in remembrance of "Sal" on Friday, February 22, 2019, from 4 to 6 P.M. in "The Bistro" at Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa. Cremation has taken place and a private family burial will be held at a later date.

Salvatore Francis Lembo on April 5, 1955 in Revere, Massachusetts to John and Janet (Snow) Lembo. He grew up in Massachusetts and graduated from high school in Revere. Following high school graduation, he served his country in the U.S. Marines Corps earning an honorable discharge. He then attended Northeastern College in Boston and later Loras College in Dubuque. He married Kimberly Elizabeth Koontz Carter on February 28, 2009 in Maquoketa, Iowa.

"Sal" had worked various jobs throughout the years. Early on he was a prison guard and raced Greyhounds all over the United States. Upon graduating from Loras College, he worked as a special needs teacher, and also at Hillcrest in Dubuque. He then moved to Maquoketa where he worked at Community Care in Charlotte and at Prairie House in Maquoketa. For the past five years he has worked at WALMART in Maquoketa as a night stocker.

"Sal" was of the Catholic faith. He enjoyed traveling and taking cruises, cooking and spending time with the grandchildren. He was an avid fan of Boston sports, including the Patriots, Bruins, Red Sox and Celtics.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Kimberly Lembo of Maquoketa, IA; children, Karen (Todd) Tuecke, Kimberly (Cory) Gates, Steven (Chelsey) Mattison, Katherine (Andrew) Gates, Mark Lembo, Michael Lembo, and Jennifer Gott; step-children, Tiffany Parker, Melissa Parker, Ethan (Karey) Gott, Jarrod (Ashley) Gott, James (Bonnie) Carter, and Terry (Abby) Carter; his mother and step-father, Janet and Robert Colburn of MA; brothers, Paul (Mary Ellen) Lembo, Allen Newton, and Randy (Marilyn) Lembo; a sister, Marie (Woody) Myers; and 22 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, a brother William "Billy" Lembo, and a daughter Kristen Hunt.
