Frank Fay, 84, of Malvern, IA, passed away at his rural Malvern home on February 19, 2019. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at the Loess Hills Funeral Home in Malvern. Military honors and burial will be in the Malvern Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Franklyn George Fay, one of fourteen children of Jessie (Lampman) and Milton Percy Fay, was born on January 30, 1935 in Hancock, Wisconsin. He grew up and attended school in Hancock through the 8th grade. Frank held various jobs; worked as a jockey for two years for the Murphy Stables, worked for 3 years for Berwind Railroad, helped with farm work, and worked at a foundry.

Frank enlisted in the United States Air Force on February 23, 1955 in Whitewater, Wisconsin and was honorably discharged on February 24, 1963 at Forbes Air Force Base in Topeka, Kansas.

Frank and Donna Marie Harman were married on April 28, 1957 at the United Methodist Church in Tabor, Iowa. Their marriage was blessed with two children, Sandra Marie and Keith Allen. They made their home on an acreage just south of Malvern, Iowa, in the "Peaceville" area.

Frank owned and operated a portable feed mill for 18 years, traveling to area farm lots and worked for Standard Chemical in Malvern. He then worked for I.B.P. in Council Bluffs, Iowa for 7 years. At his time of retirement, Frank had been working as a welder. He worked for another 16 years as a farm hand for Dennis Schroeder.

Frank enjoyed raising chickens and tending his very large vegetable garden. He also loved woodworking and made many unique items from old barn boards, including the enclosed produce stand where he sold his seasonal items. Frank also enjoyed listening to old country music, especially Hank Williams songs.

Frank passed away at his home near Malvern on February 19, 2019, at the age of 84 years and 19 days. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother in infancy; brothers, Howard Fay, Marvin Fay and wife Nancy, Shirley Fay, Rodger Fay and wife Joann, and Arden Fay; sisters, Dora Novak and husband Eddie, Rosemary Haden and husband Vernon "Bud", Joyce Person and husband Cecil, Esther Onernick and husband Ed, Annabelle Olsen and husband Harvey; and Blanch Kircher and husband Romaine.

Frank is survived by his wife of 61 years Donna Fay of Malvern; daughter Sandra Hartley and husband Daryl of Lincoln, NE; son Keith Fay and wife Kerem of El Paso, TX; grandchildren, Jacob Carley and wife Cassie of Colorado, Sarah Hartley of Dallas, TX, Jennifer Madden and husband Robert of Las Vegas, Nevada, Mitchell Fay and wife Katie of El Paso, TX, and Krystal Murphy and husband Adam of El Paso, TX; five great grandchildren; sister Betty Gustke and husband Gerald "Jerry" of Red Granite, WI; sisters-in-law, Lucille Fay of White Water, WI, Margaret Fay of Hayward, WI and Maevon Fay of Louisville, KY; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
