Doris May Coppes
March 21, 1926 - February 23, 2019

Doris May Coppes, 92, of Yarmouth died Saturday, February 23, 2019 at Klein Center, West Burlington. She was born March 21, 1926 in Marshalltown to Charles David and Mildred Wellons Brennecke. On January 27, 1946 she married Milo Forrest Coppes in Muscatine. He died May 26, 1992.
Mrs. Coppes was a graduate of Lamoille High School and NE Missouri State University where she earned her teaching certificate. She taught one year at Yarmouth, then quit to raise her family but substituted for many years and also took care of the library at the school. She was a member of Yarmouth Baptist Church, was a homemaker, enjoyed gardening, camping, bird watching and fishing; loved reading and history and especially enjoyed her grandchildren and family get togethers.
Survivors include 5 children; Ronald (Janet) Coppes of Yarmouth, Dennis (Debbie) Coppes of Sperry, Janelle (Michael) Martin of Nampa, Idaho, Andrew Coppes of Mediapolis and Sally (Mike) Campbell of Burlington; 17 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren; and two daughters-in-law, Jean Coppes of Yarmouth and Rosemarie Chester of Meridian, Idaho. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Kevin and Michael; one granddaughter, Haley; three brothers, David , Karl and Frank Brennecke; and four sisters, Marian Rasmus, Carol Scarbrough, and in infancy Janet Nell and Katherine Brennecke.
Visitation will begin at 9 AM Friday at Elliott Chapel with the family greeting friends until 11 AM services. Pastor Jeff Duffy will officiate with interment being held at Trinity Cemetery, Mt.
