Mary Lawler
August 16, 1921 - February 24, 2019

Mary Lawler, 97, of Fort Dodge, passed away on Sunday, February 24, 2019 at the Marian Home.
Funeral Services will be on Saturday, March 2nd at 10:00 AM in the Chapel of the Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home and 10:30 AM at Corpus Christi Church. Burial will follow at St. James Cemetery near Clare. Visitation will be on Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, with C.D. of A. Rosary at 3:45 PM and Vigil Prayer Service at 7:00 PM all at Laufersweiler Funeral Home.
Mary is survived by her children, Patrick (Alyce Ann) Lawler of Fort Dodge, Mark (Elizabeth) Lawler of Sioux City, Marianne (Rick) Post of Algona, Dr. Rita Lawler of Portland, OR; 9 grandchildren, Michael (Tina) Lawler, Anthony Lawler, Kyle (Megan) Lawler, Jennifer (Troy) Hansch, Darren (Krissy) Berger, Michelle (Jesse) Bryngelson, Kurt (Crystal) Lawler, Jacob (Kelly) Lawler, Andrew (fiancé Lauren) Lawler; 16 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Alice (Fitzgerald) McElroy; husband, Edwin T. (Curly) Lawler; sister, Rose Cunningham and brothers, Urban and William McElroy.
Mary McElroy was born August 16, 1921 in Clare. She attended St. Matthews grade school and graduated from St. Matthew's High School. She then continued her education at Iowa State Teaching College, where she received her teaching certificate. On September 14, 1945, Mary was united in marriage to Edwin T. Lawler at St. Matthew's Church and the couple established their home in Clare. Mary and Edwin farmed near Clare, where she also ran the Clare Café for several years. In 1985, she retired from Farm Egg. She was a member of St. Matthew's Church, past President and Secretary of the Ladies Aid, and had also belonged to the Quilt Club.
Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
