Council 568 Burlington Iowa wrote on Feb 26, 2019:

"he Officers of Knights of Columbus Council 568 in Burlington wish to take this opportunity to express our condolences on the passing of Jack Gavin. Jack is the father of member Joel Gavin. We all start life in a watery tomb, unknowingly headed for a birth tunnel and to a life of breathing air, and water no more. We hauntingly move toward another tunnel ,a "birth" into a much better "world". As Christians, we know that Christ entered that tunnel through death and came back to His followers to reassure us where that tunnel leads. Be not afraid, I go before you always, come follow me. For I go to prepare a place for you. To his family, may your faith, friends and family bring you peace and comfort at this time. May the perpetual light shine upon Jack."

Jack was such a great man and an even greater uncle! a couple of my favorite memories were going to my first cubs game with him and him grabbing an empty beer can from some drunk guy on the bus and giving it to me to have as a souvenir. I still have it in my basement! and walking to the DQ in Maquoketa to get ice cream served in the little baseball helmets. And of course, all the euchre games. He will truly be missed! Love to you all! See you on Friday. Jake"
