Wayne H. Wiegmann, 84, of Allison, Iowa, passed away, Tuesday, February 26, 2019, at UnityPoint Health - Allen Hospital in Waterloo. He was born November 20, 1934, in Waverly, Iowa, to Fred and Lilie (Miller) Wiegmann.
Wayne graduated from Allison High School in Allison. He furthered his education and graduated from Wartburg College in Waverly. Wayne was united in marriage to Roberta Reckler on September 16, 1967, in Newton, Iowa.
Wayne worked at Allison Schools, ASCS office in Allison, Schultz's Family Store in Waverly, and Fishel Construction in Allison. Wayne was a lifelong member of the St. James Lutheran Church in Allison, where he served on the Church Council and Sunday School Board. He was also a member of Trees Forever.
Wayne had many hobbies. He enjoyed fly tying and fishing, biking and walking, tent camping, and cooking. Wayne also enjoyed gardening and canning, as well as whittling and woodworking. He loved playing the harmonica and dulcimer. Wayne loved photography, trains, and reading encyclopedias. He found joy in the little things such as birds, dogs, boomerangs, bad jokes, and funny stories.
Wayne is survived by his wife of 51 years Roberta Wiegmann of Allison, two daughters Gail Wiegmann of West Des Moines and Wendy Wiegmann of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Also a close friend of the family Lisa VanEllen.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents.
