Lois Jean Caldwell
October 30, 1925 - March 4, 2019

Lois Jean Caldwell, 93, of New London, died Monday, March 4, 2019 in Oskaloosa.

Lois was born October 30, 1925 in Trenton, the daughter of Lee Ellis and Katherine Elliott McPheron . She married Rex Howell on March 1, 1942. They divorced. She later married Maxin E. Caldwell on February 28, 1964. They also divorced. She attended New London Schools and later received her GED, finishing as Valedictorian. She was a member of Harmony Bible Church.

Lois worked as a housekeeping and laundry supervisor at Henry County Care Facility, retiring in 1992. She was a member of RSVP, SHIIP, New London VFW Women's Auxiliary 7641, and was secretary for the New London Care Center Review Committee and loved giving manicures to the residents. She enjoyed golf, bowling, clog dancing, sewing, and volunteering. She volunteered for a week on a reservation in Arizona.

Lois is survived by her children Sharon Myers of New Sharon and Bradley Howell of New London; grandchildren, Daniel Myers and Jennifer Myers Hasley; great-grandchildren Emma Long, Tanner and Delani Myers; and brother Dr. Paul McPheron of New London. She was preceded in death by her parents, son Larry Lee Howell who died in Viet Nam, daughter Sandy Branch, grandson Scott Myers, and brother Dick McPheron.

A memorial service will be held at 2:30 PM, Thursday, March 7 at Elliott Chapel, New London with Pastor Jeff McPheron officiating. Visitation will be Thursday with the family greeting friends for one half hour prior to the service. According to her wishes, Lois has donated her body to the University of Iowa Deeded Body Program.
