NANCY SHOPPA
MUSCATINE, Iowa - Nancy K. Shoppa, 78, of Muscatine, passed away on Monday, March 4, 2019, at Select Specialty Hospital - Davenport.
A celebration of life service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, March 8, 2019, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Private burial will take place in Greenwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Friday, March 8, 2019, at the funeral home. Memorials in Nancy's memory may be left to the family in care of Gary Shoppa.
Nancy was born on August 26, 1940, in Muscatine, the daughter of James S. and Dorothy Callaway Figg. She was a graduate of Muscatine High School, class of 1958. She was united in marriage to Samuel H. Snyder on October 4, 1958 in Muscatine. Together they had four children, Jeff, Julie, Jay, and Jill. Samuel preceded her in death on May 30, 1985. She was united in marriage to Gary A. Shoppa on November 4, 1989, and she gained three more children, Tom, Amy, and Matt.
After Nancy married Sam, they lived on their farm where they grew produce for their family owned and operated Snyder's Farm Market. She later started working at Carver Pump, retiring in 2001.
Nancy was an avid flower gardener. She looked forward to playing cards in her card clubs. Nancy liked shopping and watching game shows on television. She enjoyed traveling, especially her many trips to Florida and the beach. Most of all, Nancy loved spending time with her husband, her children, her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Nancy was kind, smart, funny and loving. Anyone who met her described her as the nicest, sweetest woman. She was loved by all.
Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Gary Shoppa of Muscatine; her children, Jeff Snyder and wife, Debbie, of Muscatine, Julie Castillo and husband, Rolando, of Roxboro, North Carolina, Jay Snyder of Muscatine, Jill Rice and husband, Doug, of Muscatine, Amy TeStrake of Davenport, Tom Shoppa and wife, Rebecca, of Fruitland, and Matthew Shoppa and significant other, Karen Kochneff, of Muscatine; her grandchildren, Aaron (Kathryn) Snyder, Alex Snyder, Eric Shouse, Adam Shouse, Nick Rice, Ben Rice, Maddie Rice, Katie Shoppa, Brady Shoppa, Kelly Shoppa, Eric (Laura) Kochneff, Conner TeStrake, Cameron TeStrake, and Creed TeStrake; and great-grandchildren, Ethan Snyder, Rowan Shouse, Gage Shouse, Francie Kochneff, Clara Kochneff, and baby Rice, due in September.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Sam; and a brother, John Figg.
