James R. Failor

James R Failor, age 88, of 1616 N. 4th, died September 27, 2011, in his home.

James was born December 29, 1922 in Shelbina, Missouri, the son of Harry and Edith Moon Failor.  On December 16, 1944 he married Wanda L. Bridgeman.  She preceded him in death on March 11, 1975.  On June 24, 1978 he married Shirley Robinson.  She preceded him in death on April 23, 1988.

James worked for Allen Construction for many years and was a member of Laborors Union Local 919.  Over the years he raised many foster children.  In his spare time he enjoyed hunting and fishing.  Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include: five children, Shirley Thomas of Quincy, Elizabeth Ann Robinson of Quincy,  Judy Stice of Quincy,  Marion James Failor and his wife Mary of Columbia, MO,  and Donna Sue Powell and her husband Richard of Graham, MO;  18 grandchildren, Barb Morris and her husband Duane, Sherri Thomas, Brenda Schumm, Wanda Thomas, Bryan Thomas, John Thomas and his wife Becky, Bernard Powell, Buzz Stice and his wife Bev, Raymond Stice and his wife Angela, James Robinson and his wife Pam, Albert Robinson and his wife Laci, Roger Failor and his wife Anita, Heather Roberts, Johnny Roberts and his wife Megan, Dodie Major and her husband Greg, Billy Failor, Dana Self and her husband Josh and James Matthew Failor;  and 33 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wives James was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Sandra Kay Powell and her husband Wayne, a grandson Bernard Wayne Powell, a granddaughter Virginia Lynn Thomas, a great-grandson in infancy, a son-in-law Joe Thomas and a son-in-law Charles Robinson.

Services: 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 30, 2011 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home with Pastor Michael Pierce officiating.

Burial:  Greenmount Cemetery

Visitation: 4-7 p.m. Thursday, September 29, 2011 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home
