Mary L. Zimmerman, 91, formerly of 623 Payson, Quincy, died on Friday, September 16, 2011 at 7:12 pm in Good Samaritan Home.
She was born December 31, 1919 in Quincy, Illinois, the daughter of Elmer and Ida Hussong Mutz. On June 20, 1942, she married Lester Zimmerman in Palmyra, Missouri. He preceded her in death on February 17, 1990.
Mary was a 1937 graduate of Quincy High School. She and her husband owned and operated Zims on 12th and Ohio for 15 years. She was a member of Salem Evangelical United Church of Christ, and was a Die-Hard Cubs fan
Survivors include four children, David Zimmerman and his wife Sharon, Ann Sass, Phil Zimmerman and his wife Cynthia, and Robert Zimmerman and his wife Ann, all of Quincy; nine grandchildren, Amy (Brian) Willing, Naperville, IL, David (Mindy) Sass, Warren, OR, Kristine (Shawn) Perrine, Quincy, Jennifer Sass (Mike Stockton), Quincy, Stephanie Zimmerman, Decatur, IL, Robert (Aparna) Zimmerman, Dayton, Ohio, Philip Michael Zimmerman, Bloomington, IL, Jacob Zimmerman, Houston, TX, and Lucas (Natalie) Zimmerman, Quincy; eleven great-grandchildren, and one great great grandson.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by parents, two brothers Russell and Jim Mutz, a sister Bernice Middendorf, and a son-in-law, Richard Sass.
Graveside Services: 10:00 am - Wednesday, September 21, 2011 in Sunset Cemetery at the Illinois Veterans Home with the Chaplain James Riley officiating.
