Rita C. Neiswender, age 87, of 1812 York Lane, died Tuesday (Sept. 6, 2011) at 11:24 pm in Blessing Hospital.
She was born November 22, 1923 in Moberly, Missouri the daughter of James J. and Margaret O'Connell Connelly. On July 21, 1943 she married David P. Neiswender in Helena, Montana. He preceded her in death on May 13, 1996.
She attended Moberly High School and was a 1943 graduate of Moberly Junior College.
Rita was a member of the Church of St Peter and a member of the Adoration Chapel. She had volunteered at former St. Mary Hospital Gift Shop. She was also active in St. Peter School P.T.A., and a member of the former Christian Brothers Mothers Club. She served on the board of Adams County Cancer Society, and was a volunteer for over 25 years with the Cancer Society Reach to Recovery Program. She was a former member of Spring Lake Country Club.
Rita enjoyed playing bridge and reading. She especially loved traveling by boat with her family and friends on rivers, the Great Lakes, and the intracoastal waterways.
Survivors include four sons: David P. Neiswender, Jr. of Quincy; Steven D. Neiswender and his wife, Brigitte of Greenville, SC; Mark C. Neiswender and his wife, Kim of Quincy; and C. Randall Neiswender and his wife, Vicky of Quincy; and 10 grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Sarah Neiswender, both of Quincy, J. D. Neiswender of Marquette, MI, Steven Scott Neiswender and wife Lillian of Orlando, FL, Daniel Robert Neiswender and Michael Neiswender and wife Brandy, both of Quincy, Brian Neiswender and wife Molly and Dustin Neiswender and fiance' Haruka, both of Champaign, IL, Angela Hendrix and husband Larry and Jennifer Neiswender, both of Quincy; 10 great grandchildren with two "on the way".
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; three bothers: Robert, Harold, and Jack Connelly; and a sister, Margaret Conners.
Services: 10:30 am Saturday, September 10, 2011 at the Church of St. Peter with Monsignor Leo Enlow and Father Roy Bauer officiating.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
