Catherine M. Peters, age 94, formerly of 641 Madison and 301 N. 8th , Quincy died Thursday, June 23, 2011, at 4:45 a.m. in Good Samaritan Home.
Catherine was born November 11, 1916 in Quincy, the daughter of Charles and Mary Montag Strothman She married Andrew "Candy" Peters on September 2, 1944 in Quincy. He preceded her in death on February 11, 1985.
Mrs. Peters was a home maker and belonged to St. Mary's Catholic Church currently Blessed Sacrament Parish, St. Mary's Altar Society, the Sacred Heart Society and the "60 & Over Club". She had embroidered over 30 quilt tops.
Survivors include: a daughter, Mary Walkup of Monroe City, MO; two sons: Andrew (Mary) Peters, of Stafford, VA, and Charlie (Maggie) Peters of Floresville, TX; six grandchildren: John (Sarah) Peters of Fredericksburg, VA, Staff Sgt. Tony Peters of Seattle, WA, Lee (Jennifer) Walkup of Stoutsville, MO, Lacy Walkup of Moberly, MO, Paul Torres of San Antonio, TX, Brooke (Barrett) Cody of San Antonio, TX; 9 great grandchildren and one due in November. She was also survived by a special niece, Joyce Saunders, and a special family, Jerry and Mary Lovell, all of Quincy.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Peters was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Marie Bridgewater, and a brother, Ralph Strothman.
Services: 9:30 am prayers at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home followed at 10:00 am by a Mass of Christian Burial at Blessed Sacrament Church, conducted by Monsignor Michael Kuse.
Burial: Calvary Cemetery
Visitation: 4-6 pm Sunday at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home with a prayer service at 4:00 pm
