Helen V. Harris, age 81, of 5241 Rainbow Lane, Waynesville, MO, died Monday (May 9, 2011) at 8:10 pm in her daughter's home in Quincy, IL.
She was born September 12, 1929 in Grant County, Arkansas the daughter of Joseph Henry and Lou Frances Goldman Prescott. She married Captain D. Harris, Jr on April 19, 1947 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. He preceded her in death in February, 1996.
Helen was a graduate of Watson Chapel High School in Pine Bluff, AR. She was an avid fisherwoman and enjoyed gardening and canning. She left her green thumb and her love of fishing to all four of her children.
Survivors include her four children - Donna (Barry) Denslow of Belton, MO; Linda (Larry) Pryor of Ozark, MO; Sharon Harris of Quincy, IL; Jim (Amy) Harris, The Woodlands, TX; five grandchildren - Chase (Beth) Pryor of Ozark, MO; Matt and Mark Harris of Murfreesboro, TN, and Lexie and Molly Harris of The Woodlands, TX; a great grandchild - Hayden Pryor; a sister - Frances Moore of Sherwood, AR; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers J. W. and Raymond Prescott, and three sisters Pauline Brandon, Edith Mahfouz, and Catherine Brown.
Services: Saturday, 1 pm at Waynesville Memorial Chapel, Waynesville, MO, with the Rev Greg Bernardini officiating. Inurnment to follow at Klingner-Cope at Rivermont Cemetery, Springfield, MO.
Visitation: Saturday from Noon until 1 pm at Waynesville Memorial Chapel
