Robert G. Bliven, age 89 of Quincy, IL, died Sunday, February 20, 2011 at 10:15 PM in Good Samaritan Home.

He was born December 15, 1921 in Quincy, Illinois, the son of Milo and Elsie Meyer Bliven. On June 19, 1943 he married Nancy Zimmerman in Salem Church, Quincy. She survives.

Robert retired from Gardner-Denver as a machinist and had worked at international shoe company. He was a member Salem Evangelical United Church of Christ. Robert was also a member of South Side Boat Club, The Eagles and Twin Oaks. He loved gardening and enjoyed playing in both bowling and horseshoe leagues.

Survivors, in addition to his wife Nancy, include: 2 daughters, Carol Gustison and her husband Jack of Quincy and Debbie Fleer and her husband Keith of Payson, a son, Brad Bliven and his special friend Crystal Bernett of Quincy; 6 grandchildren, Amy Beilstein and her special friend Scott Vogel of Quincy, Darren Gustison and his wife Heidi of Quincy, Christopher Fleer and his wife Brenda of Quincy, Brandon Fleer and his fiancé Bev Sohn of Liberty, Lara Wells and her husband Joe of Quincy and Justin Bliven and his fiancé Kelly Stahl of Plainville; 10 great grandchildren; a sister Alma Wittkopf of Gardner, KS; 2 sisters-in-law, Carlene Bliven of Quincy and Mary Wellman and her husband Richard of Quincy; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers Chester Bliven & Junior Bliven and his wife Ethel Lee, a grandson, Andy Fleer, a brother-in-law, Frank Wittkopf

Services: 10:00 AM Wednesday February 23, 2011, at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home with the Rev. Steve Disseler officiating. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.

Visitation: 4:00 - 7:00 PM Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home
