Oneta C. Jones, 88, 901 S. 36th, Quincy, died Tuesday, August 22, 2000 at the Blessing Hospital.

She was born December 24, 1911 in Palmyra, Missouri, the daughter of Charles Meyers and Lillie Williams Meyers.

She was married to Lee Grubbs, In Quincy, IL on July 30, 1930, he preceeded her in death. On October 4, 1964, she married Jesse (Jack) Jones in Quincy, IL.

Mrs. Jones was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church. She was a former member of Eagles & Moose Auxiliary. She had been employed as a waitress and cook at St. Mary Hospital for 4 years, Sunset Home for 3 years and Good Samaritan Home for 4 years.

Survivors include 3 sons, Eugene Grubbs & his wife Edna, Muncie, IN; , Phillip Grubbs and his wife Evelyn, Salinas, KS; , Daniel Grubbs and his wife Karen, Quincy, IL; 2 daughters, Lillie Stock & her husband Robert, Santa Maria, CA; , Ramona Gooding & her husband Don, Abingdon, IL; 1 sister ,Teresa Hesse & her husband Bill, Quincy, IL , 2 sisters-in-law Hazel Meyers Stone, Alabama, and Valera Meyers, Quincy and 14 grandchildren Daniel Grubbs, Jr., Quincy, Lana Carver, Indianapolis, IN., Karen Featherstone, Kokomo, IN., Philip Raymond Grubbs, Jr., Salinas, Ks., Arthur Grubbs, Omaha, NE., Angela Grubbs, Waterloo, NE, Tara Grubbs, Quincy, Robert Stock, Jr., Atlanta, Ga., Debbie MacDonald and Roberta Goodwin, Hunting Beach, Ca., Allen Sparks, Jr., LaBelle, MO., Helen Finton, Warsaw, IL., Dennis Sparks, Hannibal, MO. and Penny Stevenson, Abingdon. 31 great grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by her parents, 2 husbands, 3 brothers Floyd and Andrew and Adam and 4sisters, Ida, Florence, Rita and Edna, a granddaughter Catherine Ann and a great grandson, Dennis Eugene Sparks, Jr.

Funeral Services will be Friday morning at 9:30AM at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home and at 10 AM at St. Peter Catholic Church, Rev. Roy Bauer officiating. Burial in Calvary Cemetery, Quincy, Illinois.

The family will receive friends from 4-7pm at the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home.

A wake service will be held Thursday evening at 6PM at the funeral home.

Memorials may be given to St. Peter Catholic Church.
