Kenneth Wayne Sheffler

Kenneth Wayne Sheffler, 54, 4335 Michael Street, Quincy, died Thursday, October 12, 2000 at 4:46am in Blessing Hospital.

He was born October 11, 1946 in Louisiana, Missouri, the son of Melvin Grover and Mary Frances Bandy Sheffler. On April 18, 1975, he married Carmen Harris in Joplin, Missouri. She survives.

He was a 1964 Quincy High School graduate. He served in the US Army as a Specialist 4 in VietNam and in the Illinois National Guard until his discharge in 1969. He received the National Defense Service and VietNam Service medals with 2 overseas bars and a Bronze Star with "V" device for heroism due to his actions during an ambush near Sa Huynh on May 12, 1969.

He was Service Manager and a salesman in the automobile business until his death. He enjoyed boating, fishing and being with friends.

Survivors in addition to his wife are a daughter, Angliea Carmen Sheffler, Quincy; and a sister Rhonda Lingenfelter and her husband Mike, Fulton, MO; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral Services will be 10:30am Monday, October 16, at the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home, Rev. James McCoy officiating. Burial in Sunset Cemetery, Quincy, IL. The family will receive friends from 4-6pm Sunday at the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to to the family .
